Göthe was born in Gällivare, Sweden as Göte Elov Johansson, where he grew up, and like many other people from the Norrbotten county, he moved to Stockholm. As an enthusiast of aviation from childhood, he quickly came into contact with other aviation enthusiasts and was able to develop his interest practically. Göthe was the construction manager of the replica construction of the Bréguet B1, which now stands at the Air Force Museum outside Linköping.
In the Swedish TV series "Tre kärlekar" (Three Loves) in the 1980s, Göthe was the construction manager for the construction of a copy of an S 16 Caproni, all according to Italian drawings. It is also on display at the Air Force Museum.
In 1979, Göthe received Sweden's most prestigious aviation historical award from SFF, the Swedish Aviation Historical Society, for his aviation historical achievements - the Söderberg Plaque No. 7. In 2000, he received a scholarship from the Östgöta Aviation Historical Foundation and became an honorary member of SFF in 2001. He was also a member of the Aviation Historical Council.
This versatile Norrbotten native also had an artistic background, with an education from "Berghs Reklamskola" (now Berghs School of Communication) in 1956. Göthe worked at Sveriges Television (SVT) as a carpenter, decorator and model builder. His work appeared in several TV shows.
